For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
As for BMP or JPG format, I would use JPG and tailor the compression to meet
my needs for image quality vs. file size.

Subject: screenshots of Web pages
Hi, all.
Does anyone have any techniques for taking shots of Web pages? Is there any
way to get an entire scrollable page in one shot? What about resolution?
Should I save the images as .bmps or jpegs?
