A good source for newsletters is the the periodicals section of the public
library. They already subscribe to any number of newsletters. A nice thing
in this is that you can look at back issues to see how they use common
continuing elements, or how the design has mutated over months or years.

I can recommend the design mag "Before and After, How to Design Really Cool
Stuff" for articles on newsletter design and before and after case studies.
