Okay I have a quick question here:

Why would I want to play the hiring managers' game on an interview and get
offered a job that I didn't really match with only to be miserable for the
next 9 months of my life, 'till I crack and learn the true meaning of
"postal?"

I understand there are situations when the urgency in getting a job is
hightened due to financial or other circumstances. However, since I'm
furiously interviewing right now, I find the best strategy is to relax and
be honest. And always try to leave with a positive spin on everything.
"I am leaving my current job because I need more career growth and
responsibility." NOT "I've been sitting on my bum for the past year and a
half and can't take it anymore."

I love these anecdotes, but use common sense. We're tech-writers, we're
supposed to be good at interpretting and repackaging ideas and concepts.
I just can not understand why someone would try to be hired for a job that
doesn't suit him or her.

And for the recent graduates and those with little experience, I was there
only a few years ago, but in certain markets, employers are SO desperate
to fill vacant jobs, all you need to do is show enthusiasm and a
willingness to learn and you're in.
