George F. Hayhoe asked : "Are there software equivalents to out-of-print
book dealers?"

Hi, George:

I don't know of any one company that specializes in this, but I'm sure
they're out there. You may have some luck searching E-Bay or one of the
other auction sites, where older versions are sometimes available. I've also
had good luck with the "bargain self" at Electronics Boutique. <g>

General searching (google.com) also turned up a number of sites offering
older versions of software.

You could also search for "abandonware." I'm not condoning/encouraging the
abandonware philosophy - you'll have to decide what you think about that for
yourself.
