:-)

If a technical writer was told to write that announcement, it could go somethin' like this:

"Is our future gloomy? No. We write so people can understand."

I love empty marketing rhetoric as much as the next guy, though! Absolutely no persuasive value there at all. Ick.

is a TW a user support specialist?
Excerpt from techcomm2000 (www.techcomm99.com) announcement for a Keynote
Session:
".... is the future gloomy for technical writers? Certainly not! We are--and
always have been--user support specialists whose one and only goal is to
improve human performance and the user experience using the available tools
and technologies."
I write requirements specs and don't think of myself as a user support
specialist.
