I'm looking for suggestions for a body font for a long (600+ pages)
document to be printed at 11- or 12-point size. It needs to be readable and
esthetically pleasing. And fit my unreasonable prejudices, of course. I'm
leaning towards a Type 1 font for ease of PDFing, but I'll entertain
suggestions for any good fonts. Readability on screen is a plus, since I
expect some people won't print it out.
So far the ones I've looked at have been Georgia (TT), Stone Serif, Goudy,
and Sabon.
I like the roman font of Galliard, but not the italics. I don't like Caslon
at all, and I'm burned out on Baskerville/New Baskerville and Palatino.
Suggestions?

on occasion, English has pursued other languages down alleyways to beat
them unconscious and rifle their pockets for new vocabulary." -- James D. Nicoll
