If you own Photoshop, it has a batch feature (accessed from the Action
palette) which allows you to create an action (save as eps) and then open
all (ai) files in a folder and execute the action on them.
This would get you Photoshop's eps format which may be the same as
illustrator's eps format.
Its worth a try.
