I don't know about Word, but in FrameMaker I use color to help "jazz up" the
PDFs. Headings, tables, and illustrations can make good use of colour. There
is one caveat: make sure your use of colour does not render the PDF
unprintable. I just print the PDF on my laser printer so I can be sure the
green I chose (for instance) isn't too pale to read on the printout. Blue
and red are good colours--they tend to print fairly dark.
