Hi all,
I'd like to hear from any of you who work in a documentation department at a
software company (or whomever wishes to provide advice) that provides custom
software solutions. We are undergoing restructuring right now, and we're
creating a new documentation department. This department would be
repsonsible for creating end-user documents and system specifications.
Right now, it's called "Design and Documentation".
I need your help, as we are not sure where this department fits into the
grand scheme of things at the company. Documentation used to be under the
support department, but now some people think that it should be managed by
the Project Manager. I feel that most of the documentation would be outside
of the scope of projects, and therefore we should report to the CTO.
Suggestions? Stories? Comments? I would appreciate anything!
Thanks,
Dana
