The most interesting wrinkle I've ever encountered was a few years ago when
I was interviewing at Ziff-Davis. They required all applicants to take a
3-hour psychological evaluation. So, one Saturday morning I trekked into
Cambridge and took a battery of tests - timed math problems, draw a picture
of a man, draw a picture of a woman, answer a bunch of situational
questions....
It was all pretty funny, actually.
When I got hired, I asked to see the results and was told that I couldn't -
that even though they administer the tests, all they ever receive is a
letter from the tester summarizing the results, not the actual test results.
They showed my the summary which basically read like the intro paragraph to
a resume - Intelligent, curious, able to synthesize different types of
information, detail oriented ....
So - if I wouldn't take a pee test, why did I take this one? Mostly out of
curiosity - one of the traits I rated very highly in, of course!
