I really hesitate to ask this question here, since it is FrameMaker
specific, but I need help quickly!
I'm using FM 6.0 on Windows NT 4.0. I have a book with an introduction
chapter that uses roman numeral page numbers and no chapter numbers, so
that it continues from the TOC. In other words, page 1 of the introduction
chapter is actually numbered ix. Chapter 1 and the other chapters use the
chapter number with the page number, such as 1-1, 1-2, 1-3, etc.
The problem is that the generated index shows index entries in the
introduction chapter as this: "components, 1-xii" where I want to show
"components, xii" --- is this just an impossibility? I can't seem to find
any way to suppress the "1-" because FM insists that each chapter has to
have a number, and there is no way to differentiate between page numbers
from the introduction versus page numbers from numbered chapters! The only
alternative I can come with is to renumber all my chapters and not have an
intro chapter without a chapter number....I hate being that restricted.
Keep in mind, if you use 5.5 or previous, that 6.0 uses a much different
chapter numbering scheme and syntax than previous versions.
Thanks,
Jane Bergen
