There have already been a lot of good replies, but here is another
possibility:
Go to Edit, Paste Special. The dialog box will tell you what kind of text
you have selected (most likely RTF) and give you the option of pasting
plain text.
Plain text will not have the underlining. This is at least faster than removing
the underlining, and it may give
you some insight as to what you are pasting.

A little quirk I have discovered with MSWord,
Every time I copy something and paste it into Word (so I can either save it
or print it out for future reference) all the text is underlined.
This currently is no more than mere aggravation as it is easy to highlight
all the text and remove the underlining. However, it is easy to see how
this may cause problems if words in the text are already underlined.
Has anyone else experienced this or is there some default setting I know
nothing about?
I didn't see this in the archives and have not found a reference to it
elsewhere.
