TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
I am a new tech-writer who got into the field riding
the back of MS Word. I witnessed how many
organizations list desired tools Framemaker, RoboHelp,
etc.) as a way of sifting out candidates. I have come
to terms with my comfort level, or lack thereof, with
most of these utilities. One that has stumped me is
this INFORMATION MAPPING. Simply put, is it a CONCEPT
(technique) or a TOOL/UTILITY? I've heard both, but
never from a credible source. Whatever it qualifies as
I would also like to know how I can get it/learn it.
Thanks in advance for any feedback.
Michael
