TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
For some reason I don't believe many of us were actually taught *how* to
think critically; some of us luckily inferred the principles and many of us
are still trying to catch up today.
I recently came across a recommendation for the book cited below on the
Skeptical Inquirer website at (http://www.csicop.org/si/). I'm enjoying the
book immensely, and I've become quite saddened by my own weakness in
critical thinking. I think we (technical writers) are hypervigilant about
language, logic, and consistency because we *are* information communicators
and teachers by nature as well as by training, else our discussions wouldn't
*go here.*
For anyone who is interested, I highly recommend this:
How to Think About Weird Things : Critical Thinking for a New Age

The purpose of the book is ostensibly to teach one how to look at the
paranormal, but it is in fact a whetstone for your brain.
