"According to Webster's" and "at least literally" prove my point. How many
times have we come across a word that means many things in the dictionary,
but where people are concerned, there is an accepted, understood, vernacular
meaning?
That is what I am pointing to here. Yes, the words have a number of
definitions. But if you ask Joe Average what the difference is between
amateur and pro, I'll bet that Joe will say "money" most of the time.
Joe Average is rarely literal, IMO.
