I'd have to second Robbie's advice to leave political or other "non-work
related" affiliations off your resume. Primarily for the reason Robbie
mentioned (as a vet myself, I would say that I'd have to work pretty darn
hard to overcome my bias).
In addition, I have to say that I'm wary of potential employees who are too
enthusiastically espousing a "cause" on their resume or during the
interview. Frankly, I don't _want_ to know what you do in your time away
from the job, unless it's going to directly effect your performance at work.
And if you're banging some particular drum too loudly, I have to wonder - is
it going to effect your work? Also, I'm going to be wondering if your
constant harping is going to rub your coworkers the wrong way. Which is a
sure-fire way to get your application sent to the "rejected" pile on "team
compatibility/fit" grounds.
