Well, let's see.

I've gotten my $120 worth this year in informative
magazines, SIG newsletters, and local meetings. But,
people say you benefit from what you put into it... I
put $120 into it and got a bunch of information (some
of it useful). So far, I'm content.

Not sure about this one. The information I've received
has been helpful in educating me on some TW concepts,
but I'm guessing this is an external representation
that Andrew is talking about. In this regard, I'd say
he's probably right, as I've had to thoroughly explain
what "STC" is to my employers and co-workers.

I don't know if something can be disrespected if it's
not identified. *g*

Perhaps a bit harsh of a statement, but I think a
different approach with some really strong marketing
is needed if the STC wants to gain professional
recognition outside the TechComm realm.

I agree.

I think the real point that I'm making is that you
can't take Andrew literally. He uses exaggeration and
bias to make you think for yourselves. And, he makes
good points when you do stop to think about what he's
saying. Sure, there are problems with the STC. Sure,
they need to be fixed. Do you want them to be fixed?
If so, get to it. If not, ignore them. But don't hold
one person's opinion up for examination under a
spotlight, unless you want the same to be done to you.
