I started learning English as a second language more than 40 years ago. We used those good old rulebooks then. Some of the painful things I go through now as a writer are "unlearning" what I thought were unchangeable grammatical rules, and "conforming" to team writing standards that I don't agree with. The use of "Displays" as an intransitive verb was first imposed on me as a writer about 8 years ago. It was painful then, not so now.
Cheers and "Hello Mike"
