Way back when, when I was first starting out, I preferred to be part of a
team.
This is because I needed the feedback of an editor so that I could learn.
It is this feedback which I think shaped my ability as a technical
communicator.
For the next several years, I preferred working solo. I knew what needed to
be done and wanted to have control of the process, to at least some degree.
Now I am in charge, and so I prefer having a team because I like 'making it
all happen' with the group.
Like the saying goes: "Where you stand depends on where you sit!"
