I got some ribbing from an uncle years ago when I was
in college. "You're studying communications? What, you
need to go to college to learn how to use a phone?"

I don't let it bother me. To be truthful, I hardly
ever RTFM, unless I'm either really bored or really
stumped. Perhaps that makes me a bad tech writer, but
IMHO, we write manuals not so that they have to be
used, but so they are there when the users need them.
