Many of us know or have known people like McDermott. Some of us have friends
who work at Edgewater.
Could have been anyplace. Really makes you think.

Marguerite: My heart goes out to you all back east. How sad. It does make
one think. Years ago, when I was writing HR policy and procedures at a small
financial institution, an employee--who was fired by her manager--threatened
me while I processed her final paperwork. She stated she had a gun. She also
lived in my apartment complex. I don't remember why she took her anger out
on me. I was in no way involved in her dismissal.
I had one of our very no-nonsense managers go down to the 1st floor to
deliver the ex-employee's final paycheck. I was too frightened to do so.
Thankfully, that was the last time I ever heard from that disgruntled
employee.
You never know. Today is the day to make any decisions we've been putting
off. We are not promised tomorrow. Tomorrow is a gift yet to be opened.
