Subject:RE: Names for Elements on DOS Screen From:"Krezel, Lillian" <Lillian -dot- Krezel -at- midata-ebs -dot- com> To:"TECHWR-L" <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- raycomm -dot- com> Date:Fri, 29 Dec 2000 09:48:16 -0500
Salan asked about DOS:
> Each element is a name and some (unmarked) space to type a value.
> Are they fields, options, settings...?
Salan, I always called the unmarked space fields, back in the olden
<g> times when I used DOS. The names you can see are fieldnames.
There are a number of computer terminology guides available on the
Web. A quick www.google.com search resulted in 54K hits. I'm sure
something in there is what you are looking for.
I don't know where you are located, but if you will be writing about
DOS often, you might be able to find old DOS system manuals at
yard sales or library used-book sales if those exist in your area.
If not, perhaps you could arrange a trade with someone who has
access to such things.
Best,
Lili
