TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
I recently upgraded from PSTN to ISDN2e (128kbps), but network choking meant
'that page' took about fifty-five seconds to load. I'm a potential customer,
but I can't afford the time to browse such a slow site -- I voted by
clicking the Close button of my browser.

Who uses a 28.8 modem? Until recently, me (and I object to being called a
low-end slob:-)
To me, (global) statements like Andrew's indicate an arrogant,
technologically rich who've lost touch with the audience they're paid to
support. It's like a manufacturer of mechanical products who wants to
provide manuals only in PDF format because "everyone has a computer."
FWIW, In many parts of the Global Village, communications are expensive. For
example, in UK, telephony providers only recently offered unmetered Internet
access, and anything better than a single PSTN line carves a large chunk out
of a small company budget.
