Actually, you can use the latest version of RoboHELP to create WebHelp
files, which are pure HTML and thus portable to all platforms...

Fellow Tech Writers

I'm wondering if there's a pre-packaged database that can handle help files
that will work for all types of servers (Microsoft, Unix, Apache, etc.)

FrameMaker is a linear system. RoboHelp is for Microsoft only.

What I'm trying to do is I have these fields that I need to explain in
various contexts. I want to store that information once only and update it
only once as well. If it's a linear file, I have to find every occurence of
that text.

I looked a little bit into MS Word's Linking Objects command (Insert -
Objects) and I'd rather not use it if there's a database option.

Thanks for your help.
