Hello all,
I searched the TechWR-L archives and the Microsoft "FAQ for Word2000" site,
to no avail.
<brief background>
In my installation guide, I've inserted a picture between each step. I
added a caption below each picture, using Word's caption feature. Then, I
inserted a cross-reference field in each step to the caption of the image it
goes with. E.g.: "Do this, as shown in {field}." Where {field} ends up
being Figure 3, 4, 5, etc.
<problem>
In about 3 places, as soon as I inserted the cross reference, Word added a
hyper-linked double of the image right before the cross-referenced field,
like this:
2.1
1. Open Internet Information Services Manager, as shown in
-------------------------
| | {hyperlinked
picture}

-------------------------Figure 23.
-------------------------
| | (real
picture)

-------------------------
Figure 23.
As you can imagine, this is troublesome because it takes up extra space and
looks stupid. I even printed a page to see if Word really thought I meant
to insert two images, or if it was just an onscreen thing. Alas, the
doubled images appears on the printed page.
If I remove the cross-reference, the extra image disappears. When I
re-insert it, it's back. And it's only doing this for 3-4 of my images
(which are .PNGs) in a doc that contains 35 of these images. I used the
"Insert>Picture>From File" method to insert them into the document. They
are not linked images.
Any ideas on how to tame this problem? Please reply directly to me
(gburt -at- lrs -dot- com) as I am on digest.
Thanks in advance,
--Genevieve
