TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Maybe I'm old fashioned (or just old*) but I still cringe whenever I receive
an e-mail or read a newsnet post that has severe spelling, punctuation or
grammatical errors, particularly if that person professes to be a
professional writer or editor.
I'm happy to overlook the occasional typo, but errors from those who should
know better tend to lower my opinion of them. If they can't spare the time
to re-read what they have typed (rather than relying on the speelchucker)
before hitting the send button then perhaps they don't have time to think
through their response and would be better not responding at all.
There! I've said it!

I believe email has become so popular, in part, precisely because its
standards for spelling, punctuation, grammar, and formatting are more
relaxed than the formal business documents business people usually deal
with. I also believe most of us read this list for information period (OK,
maybe as a break from work too).
