Subject:Very serious RoboHelp HTML problems ... From:dawn -dot- r -dot- hochberg -at- us -dot- arthurandersen -dot- com To:"TECHWR-L" <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- raycomm -dot- com> Date:Sat, 17 Feb 2001 16:24:54 -0500
ARGH! Does any one have any hints for using RoboHelp, 9.1 w/ the service patch
(build 520) to create stable projects? We are experiencing very disconcerting
problems like losing content.
I'm at the point where I think we may need to get different software!
Here are the symptoms we are having:
Adding a period between two sentences may delete part of the topic. You
won't see it delete - it happens after you go to another topic. You must
reimport the html file to get the original topic back. (We've narrowed this
down to when you add a space in front of colon or semi-colon ... all text
before the punctuation is deleted!)
Losing network connections for a moment or any other minor environment
mishaps causes all imported html files to become disconnected. You must
reimport any files that show up as broken links.
Compiling project causes files to show up as broken links (we have begun
using the unused file report to see if any files have been blown away). You
must reimport any of these files.
Switching from one topic to another takes an abnormal length of time to
complete. Working on your hard drive will help this, but not completely fix
it.
Editing the files in the project causes other files to become locked. Write
down the file name and go back to it later, if you still cannot access the
file, you'll need to reboot and/or reimport that file.
Any help or advice would be appreciated -- we are desperate ... working 15 hours
a day because of all the rework the tool is causing us and not getting a head.
