TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
I hope this isn't an improper use of the list, but I am--after MANY years
of PR and editing in New England--hoping to find a different locale for my
home base. In contention are the upper Midwest (Minn, Wisc, Mich) and the
mid-Atlantic states (especially North Carolina). Does anyone know how the
freelance (or full-time--I'm open to suggestions!!) rates compare with the
Conn-Mass-Rhode Island rates? Does anyone know if the MN, WI, MI, NC
markets are saturated? And finally (no, this isn't "20 Questions!"), is
general editing or tech editing a better (read more lucrative) market? If
others are interested, I'll post a summary to the list.

Thanks!!
