TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
The first thing that comes to mind is field help (otherwise known as
context-sensitive). This provides help on individual fields within the
software.
One way to do this is to use RoboHelp Clasic to create a What's This? help
project. Implementing this type of help takes coordination with your
developers.

Subject: Smallest piece of deliverable online documentation
TechWhirlers
I think I know the answer to this one, but I appeal to your collective
wisdom. What is the smallest piece of online documentation I can deliver to
a customer that also embeds into the software being documented?
I think it's a compiled help project file, but there is a new manager who
wants to deliver form-level help one form at a time. If it's possible to do
that, please share the tools and process to do that.
Thank you
