RE: PDF to RTF extraction (experience with Iceni's Gemini)
Subject:RE: PDF to RTF extraction (experience with Iceni's Gemini) From:"Brierley, Sean" <Sean -at- Quodata -dot- Com> To:"TECHWR-L" <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- raycomm -dot- com> Date:Tue, 13 Mar 2001 09:31:07 -0500
FWIW, I have found working with PDFs is a GIGO thing . . . if you have
embedded PostScript fonts, then your chances of getting decent output are
better than if you used a Bizzillion un-embedded TrueType fonts (from one of
those 6,000 fonts for free offers).
However, extracting usable, formattable information from a PDF should really
be a last resort . . . workflows that include saving original application
documents and other life-savers, like importing graphics by reference or
linking, should be your first line of defense.
Cheers,
