I had a similar experience with one of those assemble-yourself cabinets. I did everything according to the instructions (a first, since I, too, don't really like to follow them).
When I stood it up, it promptly fell apart.
Unlike Jo, I actually did write the company.
They offered me a job. Wonder if I should have taken it?
