I?ve just located a great resource for evaluating
software tools. It?s a web site that allows you to
demo various products from an assortment of vendors.
The URL is:
The good thing about this site is that the product
demos are intuitive and fully functional--they work
exactly as they are supposed to, except they run from
the web site via a java applet, and are not installed
on your system. Of course you have to complete the
standard ?tell us about yourself? questionnaire before
accessing any of the demos, but once you?ve
registered, you can evaluate a wide variety of tools
without plopping down any money or installing a
limited/demo version (which usually doesn?t allow you
to test all the features you may want or need) on your
own system.
The site features products from a number of vendors,
though noticeably absent are the biggies such as
Microsoft and Adobe. However, there are products from
smaller software manufacturers, most notably
Macromedia and Corel.
Hope you find it useful.
