I have seen one position that required 2 years experience, and they
specifically stated that any unpaid, volunteer work, or any internship, did
not count toward those two years. Thankfully, that sort of closed-mind view
is the exception.
At the time I was a little short of the 2 years, but without counting any
volunteer or internship work, I only had about 6 months. I didn't even
bother filling out an application, since I considered that the stifled
thinking in their requirements for the job would also be reflected in other
ways in their organization.
