My memory from the early 1990's depression - and I call it that because I
think it was that bad - is that Marketing gets the first hits. Then
Documentation. Then other, non revenue generating areas.

Yup. This could be bad for a while. Or, it could be great for contracting
companies like mine and other contract people. We really do cost less than
salaried people.
