Ashu -

If you're looking for a reasonably-priced multimedia tool that can produce a
very nice-looking, interactive marketing demo, you might want to check out
DemoShield http://www.installshield.com/demoshield/. It allows you to play
AVI movies and sound and has lots of text and scene transition effects. It
supports a variety of image formats, including animated GIFs. DemoShield is
designed for software marketing demos so there are several tools included
for capturing screens and animating them. Interaction is accomplished
through hot spots, buttons and the like. It is also possible to launch an
application from a demo.

At $599, DemoShield is a lot cheaper than Macromedia Director, and very easy
to use. You can distribute the final demo on CD or run it within a web
browser.

Of course, I'm not really sure this is what you're looking to do. If you can
re-post your question to the list with more detail on the type of demo you
wish to create, I'm sure that many of us who have been creating demos and
working with these software products can help you find what you need. If
there's one thing I've learned, it's that "application demo" can mean
totally different things to different people!
