In my new job I don't have the handy-dandy
MS Manual of Style or any other style manual
on hand, and my memory is failing me on a
particular issue of style.
Could someone out there distill the guidelines
for using the (TM) and (R) symbols in print
and online documents? I can remember a few of
the guidelines, but not all of them, i.e.
- do not use (TM) and (R) in headlines
- use (TM) and (R) the first time the product
name is used in the body text of a web page/
chapter/flash screen, etc.
- never alter the trademarked name by
pluralizing it, making it possessive, or
abbreviating it
- use (TM) and (R) whenever the product name
is spelled in full in graphics
What else is there?
It's probably best if people respond off-list.
I don't want to clutter up the list with
such a simple question.
Thanks,
Rowena
