TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Like Eric, I'm glad the posts about ethics/morals and
writing drafts of legal documents have been so
professional and thought-provoking.
Karen and Mary Ann asked if these situations were
fabricated. Unfortunately, no. These are issues that
were raised in the space of three days at my current
job. We also just went through a round of layoffs on
Friday, which I survived, but that's a whole other
story.
And no, I'm not Eric or Andrew in disguise. I just
thought anonymity would be a good idea. I don't want
my questions to the list to tarnish the good image of
my employer. Nor do I want to be evaluated (and
possibly judged) by my peers for my work on a porn
site. I don't have a problem working on the project,
but I don't want the salacious nature of the project
to overshadow the other work I'm doing and have done.
Hopefully I won't have anything else to post for a
while. These trials and tribulations have led to some
good discussions, but they're not the most pleasant
things to deal with first-hand.
