RE: pronouns and portfolios--bringing it back tech writing

As Brian writes, "The use of 'They/their/them' to refer to a 
singular object has been common in English for 600 or more years,"
but it is worth noticing that we are talking about 600 years of
referring primarily to "any" object, "every" object, "whatsoever"
object, and other locutions that bring to mind an extensive category 
rather than anything so specific as, say, the next president of Peru.
