7) We need 5 to 10 speakers who will talk about cool, techie stuff. My
thoughts: I would love somebody to talk about XML. I'd also be interested
in hearing about Linux and some general "ideas in documenting complex web
applications" or something like that. I would also like see a
semi-humorous attempt to battle out the Word vs. Frame debate. I think
that could be fun, if it was done with the right attitude.

Should this conference happen, I would be interested in seeing something for
those of us who don't actually spend our days documenting complex
programming languages and such. I am an instructional designer/project
manager who, sure enough, writes about software for e-learning. I wonder
how many of us find ourselves in the less traditional tech writing fields
(though I did see that the author of Tech Writing for Dummies did address
CBT, WBT, and online help -- in fact, this is how I realized that I was,
really, a tech writer). Could we put a seminar together that would address
the non-traditional tech writers among us and how these jobs relate and
transfer over (or don't) to traditional documentation work?

Those of you in e-learning can feel free to backchannel me as well. I'd
love to see how many of us there are in this sub-group of tech writers.

Thanks!
