RE: Has anyone had a good STC conference experience?

Jessica Pease received the following advice on attending the STC conference:
"Be sure to go to the 'First Timers' session to get a good introduction."
Unfortunately, based on the info in the preliminary program and on the STC's
conference website, there will be no "First Timers" session this year. First
time speakers, yes, student reception, yes, regular speakers, yes. But no
introduction/orientation for first-time attendees or even new STC members. A
non-TW professional organization of which I used to be a member asks on the
registration form for its conference whether it's the attendee's first
annual meeting, which the STC does not. This org. also has a "Student, Young
Professionals, and Early Career Reception" at its conference, although I
don't see any mention of a First-Timers reception.
At any rate, I think it would be better to have that info in the program, on
the website, or available on-site, rather than making it a session -- I
can't fit everything in as it is. Fortunately, we do have Deb's "Tips for
Attending Conferences" on the TECHWR-L site
(http://www.raycomm.com/techwhirl/tipsforconferences.html) -- thanks!
