In today's crazy tech world, moving out of tech into
marketing is something I would love to do. Jobs are getting tighter and tighter in tech land and such a move into another realm is probably not a bad idea, so maybe it's a blessing.
You know that one of the biggest transitions you will need to make will be cultural, not just political.
You will need to get some body piercing done, (tongue pierced is a must) cut your hair short, like down to an inch or two long, die the roots black, dye your eyebrows black, and bleach the outer inch of your hair an ugly yellow.
Dump all those friggin khanki pants - you're moving into the world of black on black. Get some black T-shirts with pictures of Marilyn Manson on them, and start listening to John Digweed regularly. Make sure any pants you buy though are as oversized, baggy and gawd awful looking as possible or they will think you are a poser.
Dump the IBM PC compatible and get a Mac G3 and "all that mac stuff". You'll need to get Shockwave and Photoshop for the Mac. They do have Office and Internet Exploder for the Mac - so you should be ok for a while.
And lastly, your shoes - you'll need some Dr Martins - get the big military looking ones.
