I have a question about deleting (un-marking) index entries in a Word 97
document. I used a concordance file to mark my entries, but now I want to go
back and clean it up. I want to un-mark those entries that aren't useful and
shouldn't be in the index.
I tried deleting the complete XE fields, just like Microsoft's help
suggests, but when I save and close the document, then open it again, there
they are, all the index entries marked again.
I tried deleting the index entirely, then deleting the XE fields again.
After closing and opening the document again, the same words are either
marked as index entries again, or I get an "Error! Bookmark not defined"
message. I try to delete this error message, but it just keeps coming back
too, whenever I close and open the document again.
I'm hoping this is just some simple thing I've overlooked, but it's driving
me mad! If anyone has any ideas as to how I can get rid of these index
entries, I'd be very grateful to hear them. I have checked the archives
here, but haven't found anything about this.
