Hi, Kelli.

The change differs depending on whether you use Frame 5.5.6 or 6. In both cases, you should set up the numbering from the book file. You can set numbering within files, but the book file overrides that setting.

In Frame 5.5.6
1. Open the book file.
2. Right-click on the file that you need to set up.
3. Select Set Up File.
4. Change the Paragraph Numbering to Continue. (Chapter 1 should be set to restart numbering.)
5. Update the book.

In Frame 6
1. Open the book file.
2. Shift-click on the second and last files in the book.
3. Right-click and select numbering.
4. Do one of the following:
- If your chapter number uses standard paragraph numbering (<n+>), select the Paragraph tab, and select Continue Numbering from Previous Paragraph in Book. (If you're using legacy files from Frame 5.5.6, this approach is common.)
- If your chapter number uses the <$chapnum> variable, select the Chapter tab, and select Continue Numbering from Previous Paragraph in Book.
5. Update the book.
