Some people may have been annoyed by the older versions automatically
restarted the numbering, but at least when you changed it, it would stay
changed. Not only does 2K keep changing it back, most of the time it
refuses to let you fix it at all until you try multiple times.

That's potentially useful, but what I really want is for it to work the way
it did in Word 6.0 and Word 95. That wasn't perfect, but I knew how to
make it work.
