By "computing," you mean "how people use computers"? If so, I suggest
that, instead of planned obsolescence, you're getting into manufactured
needs. For all the buzz, I sometimes feel disheartened when I compare
the unimaginative uses to which computers are being put to the
possibilities that were imagined when the personal computer was first
available.

As the hero of Carey's "The Horse's Mouth" (played brilliantly by Alec
Guiness) said, "This isn't the vision I had in mind."

Sorry. I'm in a waspish mood today; if I was one of my parrots, I'd be
in a corner, snapping at anyone who came near ("Polly want a finger!").
