That worked sporadically (that is, it worked twice: I suspect this has more
to do with where in the document I am, since as I move up and down the
document the AutoCorrect function appears and disappears).
I selected the whole document using Alt-A, and I thoughtfully went through
the AutoCorrect/AutoFormat check boxes turning *off* the automatic
corrections to Numbered and Bulleted lists, since I have styles to deal with
these, and *that* seems to have sorted the problem. Whatever it was. At
least, for today.
