One) To make hidden text visible:
Tools --> Options.
View Tab
Enable Hidden Text checkbox under Formatting Marks
OR
Two) Toggle Field Codes:
Press <Ctrl + A> to select all text
Press <Alt + F9> to toggle field codes (This shows the code rather than the
result of the code)
My guess is the first option will work best. I tried it quickly, and Find
and Replace worked once the hidden text was visible. By the way, hidden text
will have a dotted underline.

Subject: finding hidden text
The document in which I'm working has gone through several hands
before landing on my desk. Consequently, the indexing is
inconsistent. I'm trying to find all incedences where "Schedule
line" is used in {XE fields, and change it to "Schedule Line."
Nothing I've tried seems to let me find things in hidden text,
however. I tried the Find and Replace|Special button, but it
didn't help.
I'm using Word 2000. Anybody know any tricks I can use?
