I disagree, but only by a few degrees. Simply directing the newbie to the
correct answer/resource doesn't get the "Next time, try your own research
first" message across. Neither do snide comments, of course. I've always
tried to point the newbie to the resource, along with a comment that
points out how easily I found it on, say, google, or yahoo.
At that point, it's up to the newbie to say "Oops, guess I should have"
and do a little more research next time before bothering us important
folk with time-consuming tasks at hand. Now, where did I put those
personal-grooming devices and trade show giveaway toys...?
