Matt Danda asked:
"Anyone else experiencing the down-side of the salary curve?"
Not me. I'm making about 5X what I made when I transitioned fulltime to
technical writing in 1986 (including my part-time freelance work,
moonlighting, and workshops). Having been an independent contractor,
consultant, and manager, I'm doing better now than I was as a
geologist/geophysicist in the oil business back in 1985 when I had monthly
royalties and bonuses in addition to my salary.
Trouble is, I'm facing the same economic uncertainty in my regular "job" as
I did in 1986. That's why I'm ramping up my moonlighting and freelance work
just in case...
