Hi there,
Currently, we have a series of documents,
all about 100 pages in Microsoft Word format,
from which I distill PDF files. In the near future,
we aim to have several additional documents of
considerably larger size.
I would like to move to a situation where I can create
these manuals with interlinks. From these, I want to generate:
* A series of interlinked PDF files, one for each manual.
* A structure of HTML files to be accessible
via the Internet. Each manual should probably be split
into a series of HTML files, one corresponding
to each chapter, in order to prevent long download
times.
I'd like to be able to set up the format of the HTML files
(styles, etc) and be able to generate them without having to then
go in and clear up untidy HTML and apply formats.
This lack of post-processing is very important, since I'm a
single writer working to tight deadlines (things always changing
at the last minute) and I don't want to have the spend my time
repeatedly tweaking the PDF and HTML files that I've generated.
I've heard this is possible with FrameMaker and the
Webworks application that comes with it. Is it, or
is that an imperfect solution? Will I required the
WebWorks Professional Edition? Or is there another
solution I haven't looked at?
Thanks,
P.
